I went along to another knitting group last week and met some more fantastic knitters. I'm definately feeling the amatuer force within myself as these women are all so clever - once the xmas knitting is gone I will try to complicate/spice it up! Which I should have some practice as there are another 5 babies being born after xmas!!!!! I did notice that there is a 'generation-gap' in knitters. It seems people older than me are more dedicated to pattern reading and the rules whereas younger knitters are more "lazy" having/only knitting their own way. Neither is better I think but certainly think the latter means you need to understand the maths/science of knitting which leads you adapt or create your individual knitting easier.
I have added my beanies to toggle which is a great site promoting handmade in NZ. They take a hefty commission but they control the website and orders etc and provide a good platform for any new artist. That sounds so bizarre saying artist. I finished school and started law then got into public service and now work in the cold hard private sector - when I only ever wanted to do was paint in dirty old oils or make glorious sculpture. I think it's fab that I have found the "artist" in me 10 years on via a new medium = knitting.
LW is moving to Honiara in the Solomon Islands in April 08 to live with her new buddy and with all her spare time I'm thinking she will be my new slave labour, well that's if I get any orders!!! "Made in the Sollies" - she's a great knitter, the force is strong in her and with a potential label like that I'm envious of the position!
I'm off to consider my shopping list for India and get on with work and house things. Oh yeah CH and I are buying a house next month. It's been really stressful, more than I imagined being such a big step but it looks like it's all coming together. We move in 2 days after I'm back from India!!
